Crowned, draped and bearded bust of Heraclius facing, on the left; Heraclian monogram, on the right; all within incuse punch; host coin: D N ANASTASIVS P P AVG Diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Anastasius I to right. Rev. SCLS within incuse punch; host coin: Large M flanked by two six-pointed stars; above, cross; below, Є; in exergue, CON. DOC 241. MIB pl. 18. SB 882. In exceptional condition for this interesting issue. Flan crack, otherwise, very fine.


This interesting example was overstruck on a follis of Anastasius from Constantinopolis (DOC 23i. MIBE 27. SB 19).
